Irish Brown Bread

Ingredients

3 cups coarse wheat flour

1/2 cup all purpose flour

1 teaspoon baking powder

1 teaspoon salt

2 teaspoons sugar

3 cups buttermilk

2 tablespoons melted butter

Directions

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Spray two 2"x8"x4" loaf pans with Pam.
Mix the flours, soda, salt and sugar in a large mixing bowl. Add the buttermilk and mix thoroughly until all ingredients are moistened.
Warm the pans in the preheated oven.
Mix the melted butter into the batter. Turn into the warmed loaf pans. Cover and bake for 50 minutes. Remove covers and bake 10 minutes longer to allow the top of the bread to brown.

Note: Aluminum foil cn be used to cover the pan; however, place parchment betweenn foil and dough.

When done, remove from oven and turn the bread out onto a rack. Wrap in foil. Cool before slicing and serving warm with softened butter.
